I automate recurring work when the workflow is easier to maintain than the manual process.
Prefer declarative systems
I keep my homelab configuration in Git so changes are reviewable and Argo CD can reconcile the cluster from a known desired state.
Design for operability
I use Prometheus and Grafana in the homelab to distinguish application problems from resource pressure and networking failures.
Match deployment to the application
At Suite Seven, smaller WordPress environments used a simpler approach when parallel environments were not justified.
